Jam Musical of the Week: Were the World Mine
Monday, January 18, 2010 at 10:37PM
So I have a brand new jam musical for the week. This one comes from an independent film called Were the World Mine. The movie starring the fabulously talented and ridiculously hot Tanner Cohen and Nathaniel David Becker is the gay fairy tale based off on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
In the movie, Cohen plays Timothy - the slightly emoish gay outcast - is a senior at an all-male private school. The senior class is required to put on a play and their eccentric teacher chooses A Midsummer Night's Dream and has the all male cast play both male and females roles in the play. Of course in the movie, Timothy has the hots for the captain of the rugby team Jonathan.
One night, Timothy creates a love juice that when sprayed into the eyes of people they instantly fall in love with the first person that they see - don't read to dirtily into this ;). Timothy of course sets his eyes on Jonathan, but along the way decides to turn the entire rugby team - as well as most of the town - gay [HOW DELICIOUS].
I am absolutely in love with this movie and the soundtrack for it. Let's be for real real and not for play play, who has not thought about possessing the power to turn people gay before. If I had that power I would immediately track down Channing Tatum and Anderson Cooper - I'm sure he is, but this would ensure it for sure. I completely recommend this movie which has strong important themes and lessons in it. Also, it is a gay-themed movie that does not result in one of the major gay characters getting beat up, killed, or dying of some disease in the end - which is sometimes hard to find. For more information about the movie or to check out the store - I have already ordered a hoodie and trucker hat - check out the movie website!
