Random Thoughts
Monday, January 18, 2010 at 11:02AM I'm not saying that I have psychic powers or anything, however all my predictions for the Golden Globe
s came true last night. If only I were allowed to place bets for awards shows, I would be a rich rich queen right now - unfortunately they do not, so I will have to strike up my fortune the old fashioned way: the penny slots!!! However I was told this year especially that it was sort of blatantly obvious who was going to win certain categories. I really don't care, because Meryl won and therefore all is right and perfect with the world.
Overall I was pretty happy with the results. I think a few individuals were given some long overdue credit like Michael C. Hall's role in Dexter. I am currently finishing up the 4th season of the show and still watch in awe and amazement of the twists and turns of the show. Also Michael C. Hall looks incredibly hot as a neurotic serial killer.

I also was extremely happy that Toni Collette won for her impressive role in United States of Tara. This show features Collette was a happily married wife with two kids and a local artist in the town. She also seems to suffer from multiple personality disorders and has "alters" that take over her from time to time. My favorite being Buck - the butch leather wearing motorcycle driving bad ass.
Finally, although I was absolutely estatic that GLEE won for best television series, comedy, or musical - of which it fulfills all 3 requirements - I was a little upset about the best supporting actress in a miniseries/series and the best actor in a television series or comedy. I love Matthew Morrison and think he is an incredible singer/dancer/actor and I will eventually get over his loss last night, however how could they pass up Jane Lynch. Jane Lynch is one of the most incredible & scariest actress of our time, how could they not give her the award.
Poor Poor decision on the part of the voting committee, for I am convinced that GLEE someday will go down in television history as the greatest show that has ever graced our presence!! For a full list of the winners check out moviefone's website.

One thing that sends me all a-twitter is a good awards show. The outifts, the anticipation, and the acceptance speeches are things that one looks forward to all year. I usually have only one rule of thumb when it comes to awards shows - I want Meryl Streep to win EVERYTHING. It doesn't really matter what the movie/role is or if I have seen it or not. I will choose her over pretty much everyone - Allison Janney/Dame Judi Dench come in close seconds.
The other fun part of watching any awards show is attempting to accurately predict which way it is going to go. The Golden Globes are in some ways intended to foreshadow what is going to happen at the Academy Awards, but that doesn't always pan out.
So here are some of my own predictions for the 2010 Golden Globes awards.
BEST PICTURE DRAMA: Avatar
- This may seem a little cliche'd because there are a lot of great movies nominated this year including Precious and The Hurt Locker. However, the intense graphics, scenary, and picture that James Cameron paints in this world is incredible.
BEST PICTURE COMEDY/MUSICAL: The Hangover
Although secretly in the back of my mind I wishing that Julie & Julia steals it away, I think that the Hangover is going to hands down win this category. I am not going to lie, I watched the first 30 minutes of the Hangover and not even the hotness of Bradley Cooper could keep me interested in the movie.
BEST ACTRESS IN A COMEDY OR MUSICAL: Meryl Streep
I do not care if it is for Julie & Julia or for It's Complicated Meryl has to win, and if she doesn't, I will have to learn to pick up the pieces of my life and move on.
BEST ACTOR IN A COMEDY OR MUSICAL: Robert Downey Jr.
I have not seen Sherlock Holmes yet but have heard amazing reviews about the movie as a whole and Robert Downey Jr's performance in it. I think Robert is a stud and has had an amazing comeback, so I anticipate him winning this award.
BEST ANIMATED PICTURE: Up
This was a tough decision, I almost picked Coraline which I think is the other contender for this movie. However Up was just so fricken adorable and had me sobbing like a small child 15 minutes into the movie. Apparently, according to my friends that means nothing because I cry whenever a grasshopper farts.
