Another Opportunity to see Chris Evans in Spandex - Delicious!!!

So this morning, I am feeling like crap and under the weather. Apparently Reno is overrun with this awful sore throat/fever bullshit that generally makes you feel like hell. Well nothing makes me feel better than reviewing my daily blogs and celebrity gossip news. While on Towleroad, a fabulous gay blog, I came across an entry that confirmed that Chris Evans is selected to be Steve Rogers in First Avenger: Captain America, set to premiere in July of 2011. Captain America is just another notch on the long list of Marvel Comics that are slowly but surely making their way onto the big screen. I like the concept of Captain America and the Avengers, with Captain America eventually teaming up with a number of legendary super heroes such as Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. I assume each of these characters will have their own spinoff movie deal – if they have not already ;) -, but I like the idea of collaboration and cross-story lines.
It seems that not everyone is entirely pleased with the selection of Chris Evans for the part – who has previously starred in Push and the Fantastic Four movies. Though getting the stamp of approval from creator Stan Lee, Evans confirmation has left some fans with a mixed reaction. I would like to point out that people are missing the big picture here … it is going to be Chris Evans, once again, in an incredibly tight spandex suit, and for that I will pay $9.00.

The movie has seems to have cast Hugo Weaving in the role of the Red Skull. If Chris Evans, in an all too revealing outfit, wasn't motivation enough to go to the movie, Hugo Weaving's incredible acting ability has sold me on this movie. Weaving has had a long and illustrious career, including roles in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Matrix Trilogy, and has provided voices for such movies as Transformers [MEGATRON] and Happy Feet.
It will be interesting to see the spin that they take on this story and also who they have lined up to fill the supporting cast, which I feel could make or break this movie. Otherwise, it will be an excuse to be entertained with epic battle scenes and large unreal like explosions …. and Chris Evans.
